The Intruder comix street gang will be at the Stumptown Comics Fest in Portland, OR this weekend in full force!
Marc Palm, Max Clotfelter and James Stanton will be huddled up together (to conserve body heat) at table I-08, Ben Horak will be weathering the elements alone at table C-07 and David Lasky will be a floating free agent. Seek out the aforementioned weirdos for your free copy of Intruder and an opportunity to spend your money on their brand new comic books. Marc Palm will be debuting his new floppy “Creature”, Ben Horak will have his amazing new book “Grump Toast, Issue #3”, James Stanton just printed a new book for the festival called “Hotdog” and Max Clotfelter will be sitting behind a fresh pile of “Pube Smoke”. Hole Show, with previous editions by Max Clotfelter and Marc Palm, seems like a kind of alien nature comics series. Number three, from James the Stanton, sees a bunch of bird-thing-hatchlings getting into a knife-fight over rights to eat their mother/ovipositor/who-really-knows.
I’ll be heading over to Cafe Racer in a few hours for Dune Night. Dune is basically an open invite drawing club that meets once a month to produce an anthology zine. Everybody throws in a couple bucks each month to cover the printing costs and a one-page comic to be put in the anthology. Everybody has 4 hours to start from scratch and produce a one-page comic or illustration, and each month we produce a zine then at the next month’s meeting you get your art back and a cop of the book, it’s pretty fun.
The comic up above the text was my contribution to Dune #2.
If you’re in Seattle and are into drawing comics, come hang out and meet some fellow doodlers! Just show up with a couple bucks for printing costs, your favorite pen and get a page in Dune #5!
